Hi,

I'm going to be installing a J32a2 from an 02 CL type s into my EG hatch. Now wiring harness are vtf up here in Canada.

For a wire harness would I need the type s one or base. Would they be the same?

Anyone have a type s harness for sale?

VTF?

If you have an auto engine{even if you are doing 6 speed} get an auto ECU, and you will need a Type-S harness preferably.

very hard to find

I have an auto ECU. An Engine harness at the yards here usually get cut up so finding one is very hard to find. I wasn't too sure if the base and the type s shared the same harness.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they are the same between the Type-s and base with the exception of having the wiring for the IABs...<<BUT I AM NOT 100% SURE>>

Cool someone else from the frigid North.

I'M NOT TRYING TO THREAD JACK!!!

While we're on the topic, why is everyone running Auto ECU's? I would also like to know what we should be getting as far as an ECU and wiring goes.

What vehicles do these parts come from? Harness, ECU.

I have the engine harness, and there are 3 huge plugs over the transmission where another harness connects to. I would like to work with this, but what else do I need to get all the wiring into the cabin? Should I cut these plugs off, extend, then wire everything into Integra shock tower plugs?

EDIT: Where in Canada are your from? I'm in St. Catharines, outside Niagara Falls.

Not to sure

Sinc your engine is a manual version and it came with the manual transmission it should be ok in not buying extra parts. I beleive what happen is the j32a is more common in automatic and you need to do upgrades to the auto engine to run the manual transmission.

if you have a manual motor its not going to work with the auto ecu or harness and vice versa because of the TDC sensors and CKP sensor(i believe thats wat their called) they have to be plugged in for the motor to crank and the the manual engine wont plug into the auto harness and the auto engine wont plug into the manuel harness at those sensors. so to use an auto engine with a manual harness and manual ecu you have to replace a list of parts that don from rpm systems has described in another thread plus the auto harness and ecu are cheaper.i have an auto engine with a manual harness and ecu that we are switching with auto stuff because of this

Hey Paton, it may be easier for you to get a CL engine harness...haven't heard of anybody doing it with the TL harness due to being so much different that any other harness.

So do the other harnesses (CL-S) run from the engine right down into the cabin? Are there breaks in it, like a shock tower plug? If I have to chop and extend wiring I would rather use what I have. No sense in getting a new harness from Acura just to strip it apart, you know? I do need ECU plugs though.

No, it is the same style as yours, just that it has the OBD II style plugs on it that are 3 row...Just makes it easier to find plugs for the one that comes out of the ECU that sends the signals to the Civic dash.

Holy Jesus that's nice. How long did this take you to accomplish? I love the engine cover. I want to use one with my swap as well and then trim the hood around it. Might look pretty cool. How did you deal with the drivers side mount? Anymore pics? Close ups!

OK wait a minute. All this wiring shiz is driving me insane. So the harness I have will work? What do you mean by 3 row? What do I have to get to either...

1) Go from the harness I have now, into the cabin, to the ECU.
2) Use an entirely new harness, into the cabin, to the ECU.

Or, what plugs do I need to get so I can cut, solder and splice together my own harness. Which I don't mind doing at all since I'm pro with wiring. I just need the pieces, then I can put it all together. Help me get the pieces...

get the harness that goes with the motor you have and use a universal standalone ecu :) A friend of mine is going this route.

V6 Phil, what standalone did you use?

I'm cheap and hands on so I was looking at the Mega Squirt 2

btw I'm in Hamilton, maybe next year we should have a golden horseshoe meet.

pm lightweight on here. He gets almost wholesale pricing on honda parts and new harness's are usually only around 250 from the dealer...

If you want to go acura pm me and i can get you the same pricing for acura parts shipped etc.
