My names scott, i live in north eastern indiana, currently drive a boosted del sol (sleeved b16, 84mm gt35r, just shy of 500), I have been lurking around here for awhile now, thought i'd finally. This winter i plan on installing a j30, with slush box out of an 99 accord into a pretty clean 90 crx dx i've had for a few years. Planning on using hasport mounts, probally a avid or innovative front member an not sure what else, before i get crap for the donor choice the motor an trans is a freeby an hope to be under 1500 for the budget build this winter. I ve read that there is modification required to use the auto trans with hasport mounts? any insight would be helpful, thanks scott

Welcome.

If you are planing to run with a auto tran in your Rex, give Don a call at RPM systems, because i know hes doing a auto swap in a Del Sol, so mabe he kill 2 birds with 1 stone and make 2 kits and ship yours out to you

I know no one out there there makes any auto mounts yet, but Don has made 2 at this time, and now the Del Sol is next.

But what ever you do, good luck and keep us up to date on this.

Thanks for the heads up, it looks like don has been leading the way on j series parts an what nots from the look of his thread. Is there any other sites with good honest j series swap info, HT seems to be lacking seriously in this department.

Welcome! Good to see another J swap fan from Indiana. And even greater welcome for another del sol owner! Very clean looks great! Good luck with the crx build.

Hope you don't qualify this as giving you crap for your choice of motor, but you can score and Odysey V6 in most parts of the country for $250-$350. Difference in torque between those two motors is ~40lbft. Just a thought.

That is pretty good difference, but i find if hard to believe there that cheap, whats years? then i would need that harness an ecu an most likely trans also???

I'm pretty sure the tranny will work; the difference in bellhouseing shape didn't pop up until later for the J. Here's a J35A4 with all the periphials, including harness and ECU. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04-Honda-Pilot-3-5-Liter-J35A4-Engine-OEM-LKQ-96K-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ad94565f3QQitemZ39019 2260595QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries) Or, there's a J35A1 with everything. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-Honda-Odyssey-3-5-Liter-J35A1-Engine-OEM-LKQ-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ad9784996QQitemZ39019 5595670QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries) I'd sell the J30 for $200 and pick up one of the larger motors.

I paid $400 for an 01 j32a2. Found it here on j32a.com. The guy lived in austin and I'm in Dallas. So we met Half way in Waco.
