When changing over the crank and rods in our j32a2 engines with the mini van ones i know this increases displacement which in return will increase torque but whats the exspected gain? it would take our stock 260hp to 280? 300? im debating weather or not to leave my j32 stock or not. is it worth the money?

It's said that you could expect around 280hp and 250tq. However that's just base line numbers. Things like proper tuning of you air to fuel ratio, and bumping your compression all play a big role in the end result. There's not alot of aftermarket parts but there's always little things that can be done like fabbing up a bseries throtle body. Also when cams do hit the market, the engines with the 3.5 cranks will be making the best numbers. The cranks are forged and they bolt right up. You just have to make sure you use the right size beirings.
One thing I haven't heard much about, is balancing the crank! I would love to see this done with raised rpms!
So I would say it's worth it but thats my opinion. When I stoke mine, I'll be doing the work. So for me it'll be alot cheaper than paying a shop to do it.

Im a Tech right now but i work at chevy. I went to Lincoln tech tho and learned how to build engines and i made a 330hp B18 but now i wanna do something diffrent thus..the j32a2 interests me..Just wanna see what i can do to it.

So as I'm readin here.. U can use j35 crankshaft on a j32 or can I use j35 internals on a j32..

Yes. The j32 sleeves are stronger than j35. The j32 has the best cams, head, 36mm valves......

The J32 uses ductile iron sleeves and the J35 uses fiber reinforced metal sleeves. The J32 block has more ribbing than the J35 so it is more dimensionally stable under load. Fiber reinforced sleeves shouldn't pose any problems whatsoever in a NA build.
You can't just bolt in the J35 crank without changing over to the J35 rods; because the stroke is longer you will need the shorter rods.
You can't use the original J35 pistons with the J32 heads because the valve reliefs on the dome is not large enough for the 36mm valves used in the J32 heads.
To answer your question "is it worth it" to do the changeover the answer depends on your goals and budget. 300cc's is a big difference but do you want to spend the money to rebuild the bottom end of the J32 with J35 rotating assembly? You will need main and rod bearings, piston rings, new gaskets, and preferably an oil pump while your at it.

any idea what the difference is between the 2002 and 2004 odyssey rods? other than the sixty dollars in price

i have seen a j36 which is a j32a2 or j32a3 block with an mdx crank and rods...and 05 rl pistons.....this setup with average tuning yielded 300 hp and 285 tq...the main thing that impressed me was that this motor basically pulls like a gsr from 1500 rpm and up...a stock j32a2 or j30a4 wont do this till 3 or 4 K on the rpm gauge...the only way to get good tq numbers is by using a stroke option or some kind of forced induction...there is a guy selling these engines turn key ready and completely powder coated as well....look him up...Paul is his name...he goes by NVA-AV6 on all the forums...

soo basically use a j32a2 block prep it for 3.6 by using mdx 3.7 crank and use 05 acura rl pistons and rods , and use the 3.2a2 head????

J35 head.

can anyone confirm this?

would this set up work if i were to use put the crank, pistons and rods into my j32a1 NOT a2 block? or does anyone know of a different set up to fit into my a1?

The important dimensions of the blocks used across the J-series line are all identical. Every variation is made with different crankshaft/rod combinations and different cylinder heads.
EDIT: Of course, by important dimensions I mean deck height, cylinder spacing ect... There are several differences in block structure design and clutchcase/bellhousing mounting points.

I think you have to use the 3.7 crank and stock j32 rods and the rl pistons (only if you wanna higher the c.r)......and if u wanna rev higher the valve springs and retainers are a must.......
What I would love to know if the manifold made any diff.....I'm going to port my stock and look around for a TB or just port the stock........
Now someone point out a set of cams to go with this set up
