Does AEM have the ability to shut off sensors for say... inspection purposes? This is great news either way. How far off are you on your stand alone? Thanks for the info!
the AEM is only for off road only. in other words there is no output to the K-line that the scan port will under stand . but i still working on my own solution. but for you guys that what to do stuff in the earlier car before 95 or track cars , here you go .

So this would be beneficial to someone doing an auto swap in a car earlier than 95?

I'm about to piece together my AEM setup but im using a 30-1050 box. They are not being made anymore so the prices on them have gone down. Also you can find old drag racers selling them in the 700 range used. The only disadvantage i can see is that it only has 5 coil output so you will need to run wasted spark which isn't a bad idea. Of course you will have to deal with an aftermarket trigger wheel and repinning the harness, but that stuff isn't too bad.
Don have you looked into this ems yet? The s2000 guys run this on their setups as well...

I am about to jump on a really good deal for a 30-1050 box that is why i am going with that one. I just need to make sure there is a way to get it to work...

So just to clarify. This will run a full auto set up with a manual tranny? Or just trip tronic? Or both?
I ask because I have a tl-s auto engine I haven't converted yet and a auto tl-s ecu. This would alow me to get a cl-s tranny and auto harness and be done? ( except for mounts, axles and shifter of course ) ???

An aem unit will allow you to run an auto longblock with a manual trans yes. I have an auto longblock and am bulding a tl-s trans and going to be running it on AEM for IA hopefully.

You can, you will just have to have it sent into AEM to be converted to a HAL pickup.

what benefits does this provide over say a piggy back system?
IMO unless running boost, spending 1300 for a standalone is quite expensive...
whats done about the immobilizer?
hondaboy4life
06-23-2010, 12:34 AM
The immobilizer is located in the stock ecu... so... nothing, the car will start with key just fine. An aem standalone offers a wide range of tune-ability with almost endless limits. advance/retard timing, fuel maps, full throttle shift and launch, aux. sensors, egts, warning, parameters. Some of the fastest hondas are running aem ems boxes...
Email from AEM regarding the ECU.
The 30-6051 can be used with the following engine harnesses:
* 1999-2002 Accord V6 J30A1
* 1999-2003 3.2TL/CL J32A1
* 2002-2003 3.2TL/CL TypeS J32A2
* 2002-2004 Odessey 3.5L J35A4
The following engines are useable:
* 1999-2002 Honda Accord V6 from a J30A1
* 1999-2003 3.2TL/CL J32A1/J30A
* 2002-2003 3.2TL/CL Type S J32A2
* 2002-2004 Honda Odyssey 3.5L J35A4
The following transmissions are useable:
* 5-Speed Manual
* 6-Speed Manual
Hopefully this helps you out.

from what i got from aem was that the EMS was ment for the 03 cl type-s manual engine and tranny. it was not setup for the hybrid design what we are doing. plus they never made a 5 speed tranny from honda for the J engines. i think AEM needs to get there info straight .
That was my impression when I first read about it on their site. I'll send them another email and see if they can clear it up a bit.
They put out the same information in their "official press release" on K20a.com in the J series section. I asked about the ability to control the hybrid swap once again. Their email I posted is a response to about the 20th email I sent asking about the compatibility with our type of swap.
Direct quote from AEM
"Yes. You can take an engine and harness out of an automatic car, mate it with a M/T and it will work perfectly with the new 30-6051 ECU.
Harnesses from any of the following cars, AUTOMATICS included are OK!
* 1999-2002 Accord V6 J30A1
* 1999-2003 3.2TL/CL J32A1
* 2002-2003 3.2TL/CL TypeS J32A2
* 2002-2004 Odessey 3.5L J35A4"
Great news! (if it's true of course haha)

I don't know where the 5 speed M/T bit came from but it is obviously incorrect. But if you have any questions about the new ECU I can probably help.
We have released the hardware for production last week and right now the focus is on writing the instructions.

Thank you for joining up and confirming. I hope to be running this ECU in the near future. Just one more question.. does the OBDII port still function with your unit?

Nope. It's an off-road unit only. All diagnostics are done through the laptop. If you want to control a display or monitor you can use the serial output or Can bus output direct to an Aim or Racepack dash.
We noticed that the 5-speed listed on our site was incorrect and omitted it.

This sounds great, and those afraid of the emissions nazis you could always google an ecu simulator, which would simulate communication protocol and i/m readiness monitors.... Xtremeobd2.com..... I have ordered them in the past and have had great success.. It allows you to select specific language protocol such as j1750/ j1950 etc and specific vin and ecu calibration id etc.....
Hey Don, do you have any auto jswap trans mounts in production yet lol...???
