Just thought I would share this with you guys. Just started a V6 swap in a friends EG hb the other day.

Pic of where to drill and tap, started with a small{3/32} drill bit to get a good straight hole, then finished with the actual size to be able to tap with the 12mm 1.25 tap.

Then made the bracket to "hug" the trans so it wouldn't interfere or rub against the frame rail. Also integrated a couple of gussets into the design to make it more rigid and add strength.

Also drilled out for the use of the 2 unused bolt holes in the bottom of the trans to give 4 secured points into the trans.

Pic of installed engine/trans in the car to show clearance to the frame rail.

May end up re-doing all of the brackets in stainless for cosmetic reasons later. But for now this should make it totally safe to run the CL-S trans with the Hasport kit.

Sweet thanks for sharing. I am also trying to work with hybrid on some designs for new mount kits.

Cool, me and Will had a pm conversation for say the other day about the Hasport mount brackets and where they place the engine in the bay...Was giving my opinion on how I wish the engine was back about an inch and down 1/2" to 3/4" further than the Hasport kit. Hope he also makes a "similar" trans bracket to what I modified for my friends car, wouldn't feel safe with the lack of strength that only 2 bolts were gonna give it, granted the kit wasn't designed to use the CL-S trans either.

Great Idea I was think of doing something like this to mine but the two lower bolt holes were broken on impact (bought a wrecker) I might go with one of the other bolt holes on top, they're already predrilled. Just a thought

so i was thinking... you added the bracket that goes to the two bolts at the bottom of the tranny correct? u just do this for piece of mind or what? I'm just trying to compare it to other things such as a b series tranny mount which only utilizes the 3 upper bolt holes and works fine...

Yea, pretty much for the piece of mind because the transmission was never intended on being supported by the top two bolts that have to be tapped for the bracket to work with the CL-S trans. Neither of them are tapped from the factory in that location, and with a 260 HP rating we didn't want to have an "oops" one day due to how this car is gonna be driven.

hmm interesting thanks. I'll have to go look at my AV6 tranny and see what kind of mounting strengths i think it has. I would like to see a cnc'd one piece tranny mount as well. Im sure it can be done for the same price as the hasport mounts.

do you have a picture or the top side of the mount to see the bolt placement?

Not sure what you're asking, but if you look at the first picture I posted up top you can see where they will go, the black + mark is where we drilled and tapped for the rear bolt, and if you look towards the front of the trans you can see where there was a hole already in the trans but have to tap it. There is 2 bolts up top, and I added 2 more when I extended the trans bracket down to the bottom side.

Like i said Hybrid is working on mounts if you have time to wait also EVS-ONE can redo your axles to fit if you have oem ones to send to him. Or driveshaftshop makes some as well. I'll see if i can get some sort of site member special pricing since they are only 20 minutes from me and i hang out with those guys all the time.

I got all the time in the world since it isn't my car, but Acidbath already has the Hasport mounts and he is getting the rest of his parts when he gets the money, so there is no rush. Getting axels done would be nice though.

How much for a set without sending cores to you?

BUMP!
Let this be a warning to anyone else using the CL-S transmission with Hasport mounts! This reinforcement brace is a very good idea and can save you a big problem in the future. Accidents do happen and sometimes they can't be explained clearly.

Don't let this happen to your cl-s tranny:
