I am in the middle of talking to seibon about having hoods made... I believe they would need a minimum order of 10 hoods per application to start making them...

If you can get it made let me know the price and i will get one to. I was going go custom but i dont want my engine just hanging out of the hood and i'm not that big of fan of cowl induction hoods.

As soon as I get some stainless to try and make some different mount brackets to re-position the engine placement, the only option is to do a cowl hood...gonna try and do new brackets in conjunction with a lower profile manifold to help hood clearance, and hopefully see some descent power gains in the process. Get my machine next week, so maybe by the end of the week I can get started on some prototypes.

For those looking to go low dollar on a hood fix. Stay with me. Lowe's sells wheelbarrel's that are wide and shallow. I'm not kidding here, If you flip it it upside down and trim to fit its really close. wont't be a KA show pleaser but would get you down the road out of the weather. $37 plus tax. Just putting it out there for you guys.

LOL, mine's that way too...Acidbath want to cut his hood before it goes on down the factory cowl part just on the sides and leave the front part attached, put it on, then make pieces to fill the gap from where the engine bends it out...that way it's not just a big f'n hole in it, and keeps the front edge looking factory. Plus it wouldn't be hard to cut and weld the needed pieces to fill the side holes up.

Some one posted some pics up of an aftermarket hood with two big snorkles on with the insides cut along the front edge of the valve cover. seemed to fit alright..

i just don't want to sound stupid or anything, but this goes to you Ben mainly, with the theft and stuff being at what seems to be an all-time high in Charlotte, do you have any concerns with the possibility of using an open hood, and that being somewhat of a "lure" or bait for theft. i hope your careful bud, because with a swap like this could mean i very tempting car and i know you and i have both witnessed quite a few of our friends and problems with theft in Charlotte..be careful bud, you know ive got your back tho :)

That's an awesome idea, really. I can totally picture it. I think with a bit of work you could get it smooth. Wait... I meant A LOT of work. Would make a good base line though.

hopes that you have been driving it alot on the street. did you have any tq steer? what is you suspension set up in the front and back?

tegman88

the torque steer is not really a issue ive drove it on the road for about 30 minutes in all so far because i dont have a altenator but every bit of that was pretty hard driving so ive got the feel of it the only issue is keeping up with the revs as far as suspension goes were running some teins i dont know the specs but i will get them and post that in the build thread

I may have to try that wheel barrow deal! It wouldn't be tough to make a custom fiberglass hump that followed the stock body lines...I just don't have the patience for body work. Plus, the HAsport mounts put all your guys' engines so high!

I cant speak for everyone else but the hasport mounts but my engine high yes but the axles are 100% straight and level.

Heres my hood. Over the winter I will be trying to create a carbon one that follows the engine lines as tight as possible.
