how does megasquirt worked for you?

if you had use megasquirt for you jswap, what part do you need to go with the ems?

does vtec work with megasquirt?

I haven't used it yet but it's in the cards. I'm not going to go with the EMS Pro though - $795 seems steep to me for a megasquirt product (it's open source) - I'm hoping to get my hands on the Mega-Squirt II Kit (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/megasquirtii-engine-management-system-wpcb3-unassembled-kit-p-59.html) and add the Megasquirt III Daughter Board (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/megasquirt-iii-c-76.html). The new version (III) is very very capable and just out of beta testing: MSIII EFI (http://www.ms3efi.com/product.html)

In order to use VTEC you used to need a Relay Controller (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/pcbv3-and-v22-relay-control-39modkit39-vtec-tvis-fans-p-126.html) but MSIII now offers "6 channels mid current output for small solenoids or relays"

I'm just going to modify my original engine harness to plug into MS. I'll get a thread going to document the whole process when I start on it. I think I am going to make a template for the harness and perhaps become a board sponsor and sell them; Fully assembled plug and play kits - complete kits with no assembly - and then partial assemblies; assembled EMS w/ Harness kit, and assembled Harness w/ EMS kit.

Don't hold your breath though - I have a lot of projects in the works and it will probably take some time. Of course if I thought the demand was high enough I would bump it forward to a higher priority.

if you look on diyautotunes web site , there a missing tooth setup you can purches. use the 60-1 missing tooth with pick-up. now you can use the wires from the lower crank sensor and connect them to the new pick-up for the missing tooth wheel. by the way you will need to make a small bracket for the new pickup. and you connect the 60-1 wheel to the pully on the side of the motor with a drill and tap set. some small bolts with lock tight. make sure you set the missing to to the top dead center mark on the pully.

after that is all done. you dont have to cut up anything else on the harness , because all the wires are running in though the firewall . now get a old odb2 ecu for the pin header . remove it from the pin header from the ecu nicely. you now can make a small adapter from the Megasquirt to the obd2 pin header that will plug easily into your j motor harness. and for the crank sensor you just installed on the motor , just remember to use the lower crank sensor wires for the input to the megasquirts input trigger.

if you are using a motor that is auto then the triggers for the lower crank sensor are a sheilded two mag pick-up system allready. so connecting the wires should not be a problem.

Don,
I am using all stock sensors including the crank sensor and a crank gear tooth with a missing tooth making it a 12 to 1.

So all you really need is the megasquirt II and the vtec relay control circuit, the idol air control from an older civic and MK-PWMIAC for idle control. You also may need one of Dons speedometer repair kit because its cheaper than buying a speedo healer and 6 680 ohm resistors.I well post pic a modification to the MS ll and the crank gear

That's good to know that the factory sensors are all compatible with MS2. MS3 won't require that VTEC controller.

Looking forward to seeing your setup.

I'm curious as to what you did for a base map before you went in and tuned it. Also, what kind of numbers did you make and what are your modifications?

its not tuned yet. but for the ignition timing i have (p30 b16a jdm ignition timing map as a base and doesnt ping i have 3" ex & 3" intake i am also working on some 50.3mm itbs. i tune cars for a living

I guess if you haven't tuned it then you haven't dyno'd it either? Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the ITB's.
