Hi i need to gather a lot of informations because im pretty new to tuning and swapping im 20 years old and i live in canada quebec .
I searched a lot of internet and came across this forum and got a lot pics of different swapping and a few videos.
I wanted to get the j32a2 engine but unfortunately where i live its really rare to find and if i find it would be so expensive anyway.
I came across the j30a4 engine from honda accord and the j35a4 engine from honda odyssey.
Here are some quick specs:
Source wiki
J30A4 pushed output to 240 hp (180 kW) and 212 lb·ft (287 N·m) using a three-way VTEC system, higher (10:1) compression ratio, and a novel exhaust manifold cast as one piece with the cylinder head. It weighs nearly 20 lb (9.1 kg) lighter and is an inch shorter than J30A1. so weighs 230lb
and the j35a4 240 hp (179 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) (5500/4500 rpm) for the J35A4.
The J35 displaced 3.5 L (3471 cc, 212 cu in) and is an SOHC VTEC design. Bore is 89 mm (3.5 in) and stroke is 93 mm (3.7 in).
What i like about the j30a4 is that it is light weight compared to other j series and produces quite good performance 240 hp but no enough torque.
On the other hand the j35a4 is a bigger engine will produce same hp but more torque which is pretty good 242 ft.lbf
I would be using the 6 speed manual tranmission from a honda accord v6.
So guys help me decide which engine to use and give me more ideas and information on the swap.
What did you guys have to change, difficulties encountered and parts to be changed or tuned to take this engine.
Any kind of information is welcomed so please help me
thanks

i'd def go for the odyssey motor myself. p2r is selling a bunch of auto j32a2 longblocks in here in the motor for sale section... pm him if you are looking for one.

Does it matter is the engine was originally an automatic one?

seemed to me that you needed a k20a2 swap, i made a 162tq and i have all kind of tracktion prolblem with my bfgr but when i conquered we ran a 12.45 with my eg stck internal. in an eg. j32 are bound to make 240 tq, cant win a race if you don't have slick. if i were you i do my research on the up and down of a j, j is still very new to me and everyone i just hope that it don't turn out ot be like the h series, then i will be vey piss. so far im working on my j swap, i just don't see it to be daily driven. if you needed a k20a2 let me know, i got one with 68k for 2850. still in the car run and drive. sorry about my english.

um what?
I think woly was simply stating "i dont think that guy needs a k series" since he is registered on a j series forum and asking info about doing a j swap not a k. Also... I heard a stock j setup went 12.3 up in NY ;D I could be wrong though thats just what i thought rpm systems told me he witnessed.

thank you defending the wolly, i also tell him to do more research on the j. I don't want a person with a limit resources and money to start on the project and rgret it later becaucse of Inherit problem that come with certain swap. k is already is a known reliable swap with almost no drawback. j is too new.

I agree with hondaboy about stock na j can have more potential than k stock na, that is why im doing one now, this is the last time i will talk about my j swap until im done and proven.

Has anyone bought the axles from hasport or can i use the stock one?

If you can afford it use Driveshaftshop axles

Stock axles unfortunately will not work. the outter joint is too large for stock Civic/Integra hubs. Evs-one is making axles, Hasport and DSS also have axles.
Asfar as reliabilitygoes they have been making J-series since the mid 90's. About the same time I started working for HONDA. IMO Bullitproof long block.
The manual trans is a little newer but has proven well under stock configurations.

Me and Acidbath got 2 J32A2 engines for our swaps, but I am interested in getting a J30A4 or J30A5 engine just due to the fact of them being 70 lbs lighter and also being an inch shorter than the J32A2. I think it'll be interesting to see if there can be more power made from it due to just using the A2 components{rocker assembly/cams} in the A4/5 engines and maybe be a better alternative to cutting the hood with different engine/trans placement in the engine bay. And the lighter engine will not be as noticeable in the curves which I believe would be very similar to having a better combination than my K24/20 swap in my hatch now. So my advice to you is get the engine you want and not sweat what other people wanna sell you.

they are 20 minutes from me and i hangout with some of them on the weekends. Trust me they do haha. They make custom axles... best in the business in my opinion. Call them up (704) 633-2325 ask for tad or lee tell them ben (hondaboy) sent you from j32a.
