The immobilizer works with a special key. They are programmed to work together. So if you dont have the specific key then the car won't start. Its a theft deterrent. So when you remove it we dont have to worry about using and programming new keys etc.

This is risky information to have open to the public. For right now I'll let you decide if you want to leave it up or not...

Don't forget some else can do the same to your ride as well. Just saying, keep your chit locked up. ;)

I've seen cars stolen without even having an ECU in it....If someone wants your car, they are gonna take it, and with this swap it's almost a neccesity to do this without adding the factory key and ignition switch to the circuit, so I myself don't see the problem with Dons post....my .02

when you do this it makes it alot easier to steal but if you know how to put some kind of cut off switch somewhere you dont have to worry about it as long as it is hid good i will not go into to details because thieves feed off these forums now but i will give you a hint its hard to start a car without fuel hope this helps some one keep there car safe
ps park some where a tow truck cant get to. low lifes have all kind of sources now a days

its been awhile since i've read this thread, but it i thought I remember it stating in dons original post that you need to remove the immobilizer board. Can someone correct me if I am wrong, i'm about to have this done and want to do it right.

Don, have you finished your new immobilizer board yet? Any idea on price yet?

Thanks,

Erik
