From what I read last night on a different thread. You can delet the imobilizer Indicator light wire. Wich would illiminate the need for a replacemnt board.
Check out "Making jumper harness, Pics, questions"

No, it will still throw a CEL for the immobilizer when it is removed.

Ok. I'm just trying to understand because mines not running yet, but there's a cel and imobilizer light? Obviously from what I've read that's what you're saying but two lights seams like alot. The car starts or it doesn't. What's the point in two lights? Isn't the imobilizer for if it gets stolen?

used the replacement board on a buddy's ITR and it worked fine, no 1607 code anymore.

Some cars have an immobilizer light on the dash just like you have other display lights for things. I believe it looks like a key on the Cl's and TL's. I think it flashes when the immobilizer is active. But not having an immobilizer present will throw a CEL.

Explain this please...

RPM Systems makes a board that gets soldered in in place of the immobilizer board and gets rid of the CEL for the immobilizer (p1607).

So I have the original key and ecu from the same car. The harness for the cl-s has 5 wires and the civics harness has 4. The connectors are also different. How do I go about getting the cl-s key working?

My 5 wire colors are: white, a mostly black/with white strip, yellow/black, yellow, and a mostly white/with black strip. I'm not sure which ones I need to keep.

what's with the edit of first post...?

I think it would have to with Anti theft issues, even though we're not here for that but I'm sure thats the reason....

If you can find a key and ignition that matches your ECU then you can keep the immobilizer. If not, you do not then you are adding an extra headache to your project.

If someone wanted to steal your car it would not be that difficult to access the ECU and pull the chip.

Save yourself the aggravation, pull the chip and get an aftermarket alarm.

i bought a jdm j30a and when i opened the ecu it had no immobilizer chip does that mean it would work without the immobilizer key?

the immobilizer chip is on the main circuit board and you have to do other thing to make it work.
