I put a '03 CL-S engine and tranny (6 speed) in my car and had to gut the instrument cluster to install an electric speedometer in place of the mechanical unit. Trouble is, the wiring diagram shows a blue/white wire at pin E26 for the VSS output. The REAL problem is, there is no such wire! That position is empty! Any ideas? I would really prefer to find the VSS output wire from the ECU, rather than hacking into the harness pre ECU. This isn't the first discrepancy that I have found with the factory wiring diagram, and the dealer was good enough to give me access to everything that they have in the way of manuals and diagrams, which showed nothing different! FYI, '03 J32A2 into the REAR of a '84 Civic. Boy, has technology changed!

If its auto, then the vssout should be blu/wht at A9.

Hope this helps.

sorry, I thought it would have been self-explanatory when I said 6 speed. The ECU is from a manual. I bought a package deal from the wreckers, got the key, ignition switch, immobilizer, ECU, and the engine and transmission all from the same car. I got it all installed and wired up and she fired on the first crank! Just dotting the I's and crossing the T's now! I put the car up on jackstands, fired her up, put it in 6th and probed all the "leftover" wires for a pulse signal and found nothing. I was using a digital voltmeter. Should I have been using an analog meter? To further complicate things, the wire colors at the sensor do not match up with the wiring diagram either!

Well, damn the torpedoes, just for shitzngrins I wired my new speedometer to the pin that was supposed to be the speedometer output and the thing worked! Thanks to all of you that made an effort to help me! It still isn't finished yet though. I was trying to calibrate it and it turns out the the sensor does not put out enough pulses per mile that the speedometer needs. It is a Stewart Warner and needs between 4000 and 200,000 pulses! I have a hunch that it is real close, but I am hoping to find a sensor that will put out more. I find myself asking myself "how is this going to mess up the ECU!?"
