I want to do a auto J swap for my eg hb. I don't want to go manual. Already have a k20 eg manual. I want to use this as a daily driving car. Does the tranny fit on the engine bay or does the tranny rub on the frame? Do they have auto mounts for the J series. How hard is it to do the wiring? What about shift plates for auto. How much would i'll be spending with everything? Shall i just buy a smashed up complete tl and transfer parts over to my civic and buy hasport mounts? I have a auto shop so i can do it no problem, but just never done one and dunno how much time it will take. I need to get all the parts before attempting so i don't have to be stuck on the hoist. So can someone tell me what i need.
A complete engine/tranny? shifter plates, complete hardness, ecu, driveshafts, hasport mount. What else do i need from the factory car?

Although I did an auto J swap that I converted to a manual I can share a few things with you from my build. The J auto has a lot more senders on it, the loom is therefore specific to the auto, plus the auto ECU looks for them. So to make it work you're gonna need an auto ECU, auto loom. etc, so I'd think it best to get a complete wreck. That way all your dash will be plug n play if you take the J instruement cluster too to get a working speedo, etc. Have a look at my Aussie build on this site and you'll see the extra parts you get when you start with a whole car.... like driveshafts and axles, huge brakes, shifter cables, gearstick to match and so on. That way you save yourself a heap of $$$$$ and time running around for parts. Plus you can sell any good parts you don't need on e-bay, and get scrap $$$$ for the shell. Win. Win.

As far as the mounts go, you need the Hasports but you need some additonal ones that Don @ RPM Systems makes. The tranny will fit in the bay. As far as wiring, again, talk to Don. Axles you will have to make. Shifter will have to be the one from the donor car. Your best source of info will be Don @ RPM, but make sure you are buying his parts, the money is going to a good cause! Help us build up the auto J series by getting Don some money since he is the frontrunner on it!
