Alright... Hello! I'm new to the forum, been reading alot but this is my first post... I have a 1997 Integra RS... I've been slowly gathering stuff for the swap.. Here's what I got. I got the engine 02' J32A2, and 05' TL manual transmission. I'm looking at picking up the ecu next... Brings me to my question which ecu is best? Problem is I want to CA BAR certify the swap... And the engine is originally auto.... Can I run a base model TL ecu on a type S motor and have the motor still function correctly and pass emissions? I'm trying to avoid converting the engine to a "manual" and having to find a rare 03' CL ecu.... Anybody else out the certify their j swap? Thanks

I live in Kentucky. We do not have emission checks here. With that said. On my car I have a j32a2(TL) and a TL 6speed. I am running a 02 base auto TL ECU and I am only kicking on the check engine light for the trans codes.

I live in PA and this swap would be difficult to keep legal, if I were driving a 96+.

Cali is a lot stricter in every way as far as DOT and state motor vehicle laws are concerned.

Do your homework

If this is going to be your daily driver, you have a lot of obstacles to endure.
