I think it would be beneficial to pool our resources and make a sticky about what ECU's you can't and can use for your setup. Also, what to do them to make them work.

As far as I know

The motor and ECU must be of the same generation. 02-03 TL/CL-S, and 04-08 TL-S, and Odessy (I have no clue about minivans so here someone can add)

Also, the triggering is different between motors that came with a manual or automatic transmission from the factory. Due to this, an auto motor requires an auto ecu and likewise with manuals.

Running factory ECU's does have issues with factory immobilizers. Much like doing a K swap (except jdm swaps) you need the passive RF chip in the key that was branded with the ECU, or go to the dealer$hip and pay to get it re-chipped. I have read that you can remove the immobilizer but I have no idea how to do so, or have seen any documentation. Also, auto trans ECU's do not like working with manual transmissions since the speed sensor is different. Since the ECU uses speed to sense loading, VTEC will not work and the ECU will run in retard mode. There is a fix, but here again I do not know.

The factory ECU's also have some aftermarket support through API (Arizona Performance), who will modify your factory civic or teggy harness with the j harness and factory ECU for plug and play systems.

If other aftermarket companies are doing this I do not know, let me know and we can add it.

The other option is standalone. There are a world of possibilities here, but you need cash to play.

Hopefully we can work together and create some fantastic resources.

This thread has been created at a time of great desperation. I have no idea what I CAN and CANNOT use for my setup.

I do know that RPM SYSTEMS, a user on this forum is working on (or maybe has finished) a solution for the immobilizer board in the ECU.

I think another beneficial sticky would be a list of parts you can use and what vehicles you can get them out of. Grabbing a list of things from a single car is difficult if you're a scrap yard surfer.

Yeah this whole auto and m/t ecu and auto and m/t engines is pretty confussing .iv been search for like 3 days str8 on the forums trying to figure out the ecu to use....at this point trying to get my j30a1 to talk to the tl trans is a lost battle, unless i buy some module from v6p.net that the guy wants $600 for... lets be real here... Im pretty close to buying a megasquirt2 right now but i dont even know if that will fix my problems anyway.
J30a1 - all motors and ecu are auto
j30a4 - ecu is dbw and i dont think will work with my j30a1

if you read and talk to people on this site then you can make your car start and run. there are all types of info in the site dealing with ALL the topic you talk about. so get you head out of your A$$ AND READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON
rpm systems

I was just implying that YES when possible we need a very detailed ecu sticky.. i just dont know enuf info to do something like that..

The thing is there are still lots of combo's people haven't tried yet so we can't just throw together a sticky with tons of info... I tell people this... Stick to 2003 cl-s and tl-s motors and ecus auto or manual doesnt matter. Thats all i know/have seen work.

Well, Since this thread went absolutely nowhere I gave in and spent the money with API.

What I have
02 TL-S J32 - With Full Harness
03 CL-S 6-spd with LSD - Gave him All the pigtails
95 Civic Harness
99 TL ECU that Tim at API reflashes

I gave him the two full harnesses, the pigtails, the ECU and money (500 USD) + shipping.

My Harness is on its return flight right now.

Tim can also reflash Accord and Odessy ECU's but prefers the TL unit.

Hopefully this helps, and other people will speak up on what combos work. Some people don't understand what an informative thread is about.

well from hands on experience.

03 auto tl-s ecu runs on limp mode with 03 auto tl-s. only revs till 5500.rpms where dyno and vafc proven.

03 auto tl ecu runs fine. but revs only til 6k.rpms where dyno and vafc proven.

also. if its in limp mode. its gunna rev till 8k on our EG/DC clusters. its off by that much.

hmm ya i have a '02 tl ecu and its revving to about 8600 on my tach which equates to about 5800 actual... soooo odyssey ecu then?

i have an 03 cl base model ecu and it revs to a lil over nine on my civic tac

id love to know exactly which ecu to get to rev til 7k. i need that extra 1k of rpms for my power band.

so then the TL-S auto ecu will go into limp mode and only rev less than the base TL ecu? is there a way to get rid of the limp mode in the TL-S ecu so you can rev it up higher?

so would it be better to run on a honda odyssey ecu or a base tl ecu to get a higher rpm range?

and will a 2003-2007 honda accord ecu fit into the 2002 acura tL-S auto harness?

ok ,., i got a j32a2 auto wit a 6spd accord trans. though my swap isnt in the car yet, i wanted to know some info my ecus, max rpm? power output? etc. i got a PGE-a58, and a P8E-L55, also will the one be better than the other?

Yes I would like to know a proven combo as well. All this accord/tl/tl-s/cl/pilot ecu crap has me lost. What I have found that is available to me is auto odyssey motor with ecu/ auto CL j32 and a BASE 04-06 TL 6 speed.
How would you get "what" ecu to work with the manual tranny?
