In Georgia we just say "passing emissions". I'm in the process of doing a j35a4 Pilot swap in my 2000 CRV, and am planning on being full OBD-2 emissions legal. Meaning no C.E.L.(check engine light) and all OBD-2 readiness test passed when hooked up to the state emissions computer via the OBD-2 DLC(data link connector). But not finished yet. I plan on re-pinning the emissions connector with the correct wiring from the CRV's evaporative emissions system and secondary oxygen sensor and anything else the 2002 odyssey ecu may be looking for to prevent a c.e.l.. that's all the ga test looks for is no c.e.l. and for a 2000 yr. model vehicle at least all but 2 of the applicable readiness test must be completed. newer vehicles require all but one or all readiness test completed depending on the year.
my ls swapped 94 civic passes emissions here which on that old of a vehicle (95' and earlier or pre OBD-2) requires a tailpipe sniff test on a dyno to simulate a few different driving conditions that must pass 4 or 5 different gas test.

i have got the v6's to pass in the 96 to 2001 EK's . the engines we have use to pass NY state inspection is 02-03 cl/tl type-s trip-tronic full swap or 03 cl type-s manual full swap.
the 96-2001 civic and integra has all the proper sensors that the engines need to see. the only things i have done is in making it pass is a O2 SIM for the second O2 , all depends if we run the cat or not . the only code i have , but does not though a light or fail the inspection is a P1656 commutation error with traction control.

hi everyone I am new to the site and i am gathering as much information as possible about a J32A2 swap into my DA9 before i decide on whether or not to go through with it, but wanted to know if anyone knows for sure if this would be legal in the state of California? Or what would be needed to be legal. What I mean is I know B series swap are legal ( with the exception of a b20) into 1990 acura integra or I should say newer model b series engine into older model integras, but what about a J series acura engine into a older model integra like mine. Any help greatly appreciated.

afaik the j series must be from a car, no van or suv
you must retain all original in working order emissions equipment from the j series donor.
that may prevent a legal auto motor/manual trans setup, but with my limited knowledge on the subject I dont see how a full CL-S swap or converting the auto motor to a manual CL-S would be prohibited

I would check with california laws to get more detailed. Also the k-series guys may be able to help since those motors are around the same years and carry similar emission systems.

I have also not heard of a j swapped car being bar'd and ref'd in cali
