anybody have any idea what the differences are between the j32a and the j32a2 ? i know either the intake ports on the heads are different or the lower intake runners are different because when you look down the runner on the j32a there is a bit of a lip where the runner is a bit bigger than the intake port on the head whereas on the j32a2 its the same size. the reason i ask about this is because when we bought our motors one happened to be a j32a and one was a j32a2 but i havent been able to really find any info on the j32a so i figured i would ask if anybody else had any ideas of what else could be different such as compression ratio and other stuff like that?

J32A2
J = J-block V6
32 = 3.2 liters
A2 = What kind of heads it has

i know that that isnt what i was asking. we have a j32a2 and a j32a with no number after the "a" . what im asking is if anybody knows any differences between the usdm and the jdm j series engines?

The J32A is from the CL-S. Just because no number after the "A" does not make it JDM.

well i believe the sticker on the timing belt cover being in japanese probably would make it jdm and i have never seen a usdm engine that didnt have a number after the letter. i have a jdm and a usdm motor there are physical differences between the two i just wanted to know if anybody knew if there is any power differences between the two

My friend never got back to me on this.
If i remember, the JDM one has a little more HP but not by much.

back from the dead....
did anyone figure anything out about the specs on jdm j32a motors?
trying to find out if the jdm spec j32's came in 2 different models like the usdm motors did as far as regular and type-s models

sorry to be an as s but your wrong all jdm motors are only with a letter no number like the b18c b16b b16a d16zc and the j32a
all usdm motors have a letter and a number b18c1 b16a2 d16z6 and j32a2

okay so "looks wise" i found some things that are different but i have yet to find out any motor specs between usdm and jdm spec J32's.
i would assume they have the same power atleast but probably a little bit more just like how a jdm b-series or jdm h-series motor is compared to usdm spec.
things i noticed when browsing some for sale theads from some importers selling jdm spec J32's is.....
1) Intake manifolds.....
Base model TL shows the intake runners and has a different intake manifold.
TL-S has the different intake manifold with the flat top removable plenum cover.
2) Engine cover plastics....
Both motors have an "H" badge instead of an "A" badge.
Base model TL has silver logo for the "3.2 VTEC" and the TL-S has the red "3.2 VTEC" logo

hope this helps out a lil bit even though it's not motor specs

agreed, i'd imagine they'd make a little more power than US spec like usual without emissions standards... and i have tried to source the H plaque but no one wants to sell seperate...
can anyone get the part number for it?

ya thats what im thinking...
as for the H badge possibly the ones on the odyssey or accord ones might work.

Wrong. The CL-S has a J32A2.

from prior experience workin with jdm motors/ecu's, your obd scaner tool will not read the jdm ecu trouble codes.... its a pain in the ass and if j's are anything like B's they will be missing some of the major emission components that make us cars cali-friendly or convertable
