View Full Version : j35 speed limiter...
has there been any advance in removing the speed limiter on the j35 series ecu's?
I would assume the speed defender does not work...?

Good question. I was running on track a few weeks ago and buried the Speedo in fourth gear on the rev limiter(not speed) my Eg cluster does not register above 120 mph. So i am guessing 130mph with a small correction for speed due to the 15" wheels. I figure 112-118 top of fourth. Ther was not enough room to pull fith gear hard. Maybe next spring at Road Atlanta.

Ive read the top speed is somewhere in the 130-140 range, but Ive also heard that that is only in 6th. Ive only taken mine up to an indicated 125 in fifth and still had plenty in it, so Im sure you can top 140 is you really wanted to.
The 8th gen accord j35/ecu is limited to about 130-135 indicated(I am sure it is less actual). I need a modification for this if anyone knows or has a lead on how to disable this governor function.

i topped the ek i built out on the interstate leaving ia in 6th and i have no clue how fast i was going but the mirror about came off i would say it was some where around 140+
I am thinking it wasn't near 140 unless you are using an aftermarket control unit. both the TL and accord units are limited. I've been told the type s unit tops out at around 150 but I cant get solid info on that number. I do know th 8tg gen j35 tops out at 135

I have a CL-s 6spd. I have topped out the car once. My friend also has topped out his at the same speed.
So 147mph is the factory limit for the cls 6spd ecu.

if u are running the j swaps in other cars and ur speedo does not work (which most peoples do not) then the ecu would never limit out because it does not realize that u are moving att all if the vss does not tell the ecu the correct signal

sounds good .....but wrong . if you were to plug in your DLC reader in the "OTHER GUYS" wiring harness. you will see that the car is doing 10 - 15 mph with the car not going anywhere. because the 99-01 ecu he use , he wires the front cam sensors to the vss pickup so the motor does not go into limp mode. that is why it never will hit speed cut .
