AEM has brought up the idea of coming out with a ems plug and play system...

what AEM the Universal Engine Management System that AEM sells , because they don't make a plug & play system that i know of . no i am hacking the ecu to put the tune in that i want. the j-swap ecu can be reflash and i learning how to do that know.

The reflash is very intriguing.

Yea, AEM is planning a PnP EMS in the next few months. I believe I read that its being based off the S2000 system, but that is getting a new version so they are waiting for that to be completed then they will start beta testing.

i talked to a guy yesterday that said he is working with aem to make the system for the j series but he said they are trying to make a universal plug and play ecu but i dont see how they are going to accomplish this with plugs on different harnesses being so much different from each other. meaning that im not sure if there is a big difference between manual harnesses on different engines and between automatic harnesses on different engines but on the cl there is not one plug that is the same between the manual and automatic harness where they plug into the ecus. which i think would pose a problem for making this system work the way they are talking because most people have been using automatic engines. so they cant just make one thing like they are planning and it working for everyone so i think they are going to run into problems with this. i personally am more interested in seeing what Don from RPM Systems is going to be able to do with the ecus

Yea, I am definately intrigued with flashing the ecu. From what I read, AEM was testing this on a 6th gen Accord that had a J32A2 and a 6MT in it. As long as they make a unit for out engines, its relatively easy to get an adapter harness made. Hell, get in contact with Boomslang.

if they would do it so that they made a few different adapter harnesses it would be okay but if they make just one then it really screws alot of people that may wana buy it. like say you have an automatic setup other than the trans and you want this and all they made it for was the manual plugs. you would either one have to have the pinouts for the aem ecu and take the plug in out of the v6 ecu and make a jumper harness or pull your motor out and replace about 350 dollars worth of parts behind the timing belt cover so you could use the manual harness and then buy a manual harness. so im curious as to exactly how they are going to do it because from what i understood from who i talked to they were making one thing that everything could plug into and i dont see how thats going to work unless im just missunderstanding something here

You sure won't have to worry about a hood with that one Don, lol.

I love this turbo set up. I'm excited to see what you're going to do with the hood, I'd prefer it to just be cut out leaving the turbo exposed. It looks like you blocked one of the hinges, I'm guessing it will be a lift off?

Insanity CAN come on four wheels.
Any mods to the strut tower/fuse box area for clearance? What size DP and exhaust are you going to run?

well it has been done before on these motors, that nothing new. Tim over at API has that going on this the dune buggy's. What is going on this week here at RPM, we are making a turbo kit for the 92-95 civic EG. We are going to make it pretty much plug and play as much as we can. we will post picks of the work that we are doing. There has been a lot of people that have called me about turboing the J swap , so that what we are doing.

This is great news to hear. I have had My CL-S 6speed since Jan of 2003 and have known about your products. Glad you are finally trying to tap into another market for a great engine. Your work looks great! I am currently tuning with an AEM FIC-6 and a custom MP90 supercharger I built for the car. If you would like to talk to share thoughts on cracking the FIC-6 I would be glad to talk with you about it on the phone. I do all my own work unless I need a dyno. I also fabricate. I spent about 6 days with the FIC6 and FIC8 on the dyno with Kenny Tran at Jotech racing in Dallas, TX. I have loads of input if you are having trouble or want pics of anything. AEM was useless to us and got us nowhere, even there top people. As of June of 09 AEM, admittedly, had never done a J32A2 with an AEMFIC and led us down many of the wrong proverbial roads, if you will. The MAP clamp is very tricky and misleading. I have all my work extensively photo documented. I used the same harnesses you have. We had a shit load of problems but I think I have it figured out. Let me know if I can assist.

very cool! Guess you got the FIC-6 to work. I would like to talk with you about it if you dont mind. I dont remember which ECU you used? Was it the manual trans ECU? Great work!

when will the dyno numbers be up?
looks like it builds scary amounts of torque.

very nice, i would like to know what kinda numbers this guy is gonna be pushing out, do you plan to keep it on only 5lbs of boost?

ppl have been putting down in the mid 400whp and high 300wtq range with s2k injectors (390cc i believe) the tl and cl injectors are 270 or 290cc. rdx injectors are 410cc and will be good to 500whp if not a bit more. all u need to do is swap the o-rings and trim some plastic on the injector.

12-01-2009, 02:31 AM
wow, impressive. and the stock pistons/rods/block can handle that power output and psi?
Rajca
12-01-2009, 02:46 AM
maybe a run or two.
member was pushing 480whp on 11 or 12lbs and 103 octane i think
then went with 10psi and pushing 460whp.
was at the power or a while then started building a drag car. but 10psi is the most id boost on a stock block, and a really good tune.

don what kind of engine mods did you have to do ? ie... lower compression? forged internals? how much boost can the block handle?
