Hey guys new to the Forum kind of new to the Honda world as well (see intro post http://www.j32a.com/showthread.php?t=1110). I have what I believe to be an ECU problem with my car. But seeing as all my car experience is with Volkswagens I’d like to see what you guys have to say about my problem.
The car in question is a 2000 Acura TL. I bought the car about a year and a half ago and after about 6 months of having it I blew the head gasket. I got a killer deal on a J32A2 motor so rather than deal with the head I just swapped the engine. Kept the original tranny/wiring harness and ECU. As the car sits today I only have 2nd 3rd and Reverse, shift lock gate is locked and the car will only start if I have the ignition on and then touch a positive wire from my starter to the positive end on my battery. I’m guessing that I’m in some kind of a "lock out mode" and that I more than likely need to replace the ECU to a ECU from a J32A2 motor? Any suggestions would greatly help me out.
