Hi, I'm Gordon Kehler from Medicine Hat, Alberta. I've been snooping around a lot of sites for the last 2 months. I purchased a 1992 Civic CX in rough shape as a project car. A year ago, I was thinking of a H22 swap but the deal fell through on the car I was looking at. I ran across Evans built on his Civic and was pumped.
I've been a Honda Tech since 1977. It's been all factory spec until this time around. I've collected a few different Honda's. I have a 1971 Honda N600, restored to original, and a 1992 Honda ACTY mini truck.
I'm excited about getting this party started, but having some trouble deciding which way to go. I already have a 2005 Accord tranny with the update installed. I have a PCM from a 2002 Odyssey. The Odyssey engine sounds like the way to go, with the Odyssey auto harness, but I'm unsure of the auto PCM and the Manual trans. I know it'll set trans codes but not sure if it matters; also interfacing with the speedo is something I'm not sure about. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks to all the people who have posted info here. I have spent hours reading here and it's the best source of info I have found.

Welcome to the site Gordon. Hope you find what you need. Glad to see I we have another old-school honda tech on board. My old Dealer had 2 1st generation Civic's on the showroom floor. I helped rebuild the braking sys. and the carbs on that air-cooled twin.
Honda has come along way in 32 years.

Good luck.

Welcome and glad you could put our gathered information to use.

As for the ecu, it seems like the auto ecu will work fine. You will need an '03-'05 ecu in order to get the vss/speedo signal to work. As for tranny codes it shouldn't effect mapping. RPM SYSTEMS, a member on here explained that if you wire it so the ecu thinks the car is in park then you will not be able to have vtec and it will be in somewhat of a limp mode. If you wire it so the ecu thinks your in drive it will drive fine, but idle will be rough... I'm sure if he reads this he can chime in with some more solid info than what i have tried to explain :)

Also i believe he rigged up a switch so that once the tps signal changes it switches from telling the ecu the car is in park to thinking its in drive, that way you can have smooth idle and drivability without a lack of vtec...or something along those lines anyways...
